Wacky Wednesday
Last week the boys participated in a Sky Hawks sports camp at the YMCA. They loved having their friends Jackson, Ben and Raj Pal there. They also got very excited about Wacky Wednesday and wanted colored hair. They came home and got into their super hero costumes to play. I couldn't find my boys all day;)
FIRSTS
Yesterday was the first day of Summer. It was 76 degrees and rainy here in McKinney, Texas. In the three Summers that we've been in TX that was a real first! It's usually over 100 every day by now with no rain in sight until next Spring. We are loving this cooler weather. Feels a bit like the East coast.
Andrew can SWIM!!! He took his first strokes on Tuesday, June 12th at the Avalon pool. He made it about 3 feet to me and then back to the wall. The next day he doubled his distance. Two days later he was swimming like a fish or a sinking boat depending how you look at it. We are so proud of you Andrew!! The best thing about all this swimming is how TIRED Andrew is at night.
I cut the boys' hair MYSELF! Tired of paying $30 every 6 weeks for hair cuts and hearing them plead "no, don't take me to the hair cut place." I went to Wal-Mart and for $15 got a complete hair cutting kit. My subjects were sceptical. Now, they were pleading to go back to the hair cut place. But, I was determined and with the help of a little candy got the job done. Aside from the gangster stripes on one side of Zach's head, I think I did a fabulous job - hahaha! The kit has already paid for itself. Ed, you better watch out;)

MOMS Club Banquet
The annual MOMS Club Banquet was last Wednesday in downtown McKinney. The Board did an awesome job putting together a fun, festive evening, which included a catered dinner of chicken marsala. I love any gathering where I don't have to cook. I was awarded the certificate of "Party Mom" for this past year, which I'm gonna hide from Ed. Afterward, a few of us headed to McKinney's newest hot spot Rick's Chop House. I think there are a FEW party moms in our group!!

Destin, Florida
The much awaited trip to Florida came and did not disappoint. We headed out of town at 5am on Saturday (not as early as some people) and rolled in to Destin before 5pm. The highlight of the trip was seeing the Perez family. The kids started playing like they had never been apart and in no time the dads were up to no good;) We had a fantastic townhouse right on the beach (great find Brocks) and Pompano Joe's Seafood Restaurant/Bar a hundred yards away - location is everything! I only left our place twice by car in five days. The weather was great every day and the gulf coast had some waves rolling in. It was a little piece of heaven - family, friends, surf, sand, sun, walks on the beach, seafood dinners cooked by our personal chefs...what more could a girl want?
Is that Andrew?
Yes, from the back side in gymnastics class. If only the teachers would face the kids in the other direction, my pics would be a lot cuter.

All Caught Up!!
I'm probably the only person who started their Blog by catching up on the last two months of family activities. Already in the past, then the present is gone and past too. For me this Blog is a way to capture the memories of the boys growing up. Sure, I filled in my pregnancy journals and have first year baby books for the boys, but after that things went downhill. I love to take pictures (just ask Ed) and have been getting the photos developed until now. I've got boxes of pictures that may someday get organized and put into photo albums...but, I wouldn't hold your breath. I feel a little sense of satisfaction knowing that where the hard photos stop the blog begins:) I hope to be able to someday hand the boys each a disk with years of our fun times captured on this Blog. Wish me luck:)
Here's Zach
Zach had a very busy May playing baseball, practicing for his piano recital, and celebrating the completion of kindergarten at school.
Roughing It
Finally, our first camping weekend was here!?!?! We did one practice run putting up the tent in our yard, packed the car, and off we went. We headed to Ray Roberts Lake with our friends the Brock, Cann, and Jurney families. This was much rougher than I expected. We were a 1/2 mile from our car and the bathroom, no running water, and no electricity. What had I done to deserve this???
Thankfully, Kyle's boat taxi took all our gear via the water to our secluded campsite, the guys did all the cooking (mostly meat which got a bit hard to digest), and the kids had a blast. They swam, fished, shot a BB gun, rode their bikes and had lots of chocolate and marshmallows. Zach woke up after his first night sleeping in a tent grinning from ear to ear. I woke up stiff searching for the Aleve.
This was Mother's Day weekend, and we finished up with a delicious brunch at Lantana Lodge over-looking the lake. First, Joni and I had to drive to the nearest shower facility and try to clean up a bit. I may not have been as put together as I like, but really, I can't wait for the next trip!

Eatin' Bugs
After living in Texas for 6 months, we got our first big party invitation to the Brock/Parkers' Crawfish Boil. We were jumping up and down...new friends, other people to talk to, we couldn't wait!! Now, here we are 2 1/2 years later attending the 3rd annual Crawfish Boil - sans the Parkers who were on some sunny beach in Mexico - we missed you guys. It was another great party. We have made such great friends in Texas, who are always up for having a GOOD TIME! Thanks Joni and Klye for hosting.
Army Man
One of Andrew's favorite things is to dress up and play Army. Since we don't actually own any army stuff, Andrew ends up looking like a cross between Bob the Builder, Diego, and Luke Skywalker. His other past-time is playing Ninja Turtles. Fortunately, he's happy using invisible swords, knives, and whacking sticks. Otherwise, we'd all be bruised and banged up!
